Flower preservation
Sending Your Flowers
The fresher your flowers are when they reach us, the better they dry. These steps help your bouquet travel well. If anything here doesn't fit your flowers, email us before you ship and we'll help.
Before you ship
Keep your bouquet in a vase of fresh water in a cool place until you pack it. Please don't put it in the refrigerator or freezer.
-
Step 01
Prepare the stems
With sharp scissors, trim about 1/2 to 1 inch (1.3 to 2.5 cm) from the stem ends at an angle, then pat them dry. Skip this if your bouquet is already dry.
Take off any ribbons, pins, or keepsakes you don't want in your piece.
-
Step 02
Wrap the bouquet loosely
Wrap the whole bouquet, not each flower, loosely in tissue or packing paper, the way a market bouquet is wrapped.
Please don't use plastic, bubble wrap, or wet paper towels. Flowers need to breathe on the way, and trapped moisture can cause mold.
-
Step 03
Pack it standing upright
Choose a sturdy box tall enough for the bouquet to stand upright with the box closed. Line the bottom with crumpled paper.
Stand the wrapped bouquet upright in the center of the box, blooms facing up, and pack crumpled paper firmly around it on every side so it stays standing and can't tip or slide.
Please don't lay the bouquet down or lean it at an angle in the box. Petals pressed against the side of the box bruise on the way.
-
Step 04
Seal and label the box
Tape the box shut. Add a FRAGILE sticker and mark which side is up.
Inside the box, include the full name on your order, your order number, and a phone number.
-
Step 05
Ship it quickly, tracked and insured
Ship within 24 to 48 hours after your event. Overnight shipping is best for fresh flowers. If your bouquet is already dry, an expedited service is enough.
We don't provide a shipping box, so please choose a service with tracking and insurance. Flowers travel at your own risk, and we are not responsible for loss or damage before they reach us. Please don't request a signature on delivery.
We'll email you our studio address in your confirmation email once your date is reserved.
Prefer to drop them off?
Our studio is in Sullivan County, New York. If you're nearby, you can bring your flowers to us instead of shipping them. Choose "I'm nearby and would like to drop them off" in your inquiry, and once your date is reserved we'll send the address and arrange a time with you. The same rule applies: the fresher, the better, so please bring them within 24 to 48 hours of your event.
When your flowers arrive
When your flowers arrive, we email you photos of what arrived and the condition they were in.
What happens if some of them arrive in poor condition is explained in What to Expect and our Booking Policy.
